Testimonials

I have known Saul Midler for many years now. He continues to be a very passionate BCM practitioner. His enthusiasm for BCM is boundless. In our BCM exercise, Saul ensures that each person in the team has a chance to put their opinions and thoughts forward. He ensures that each person is given time. He is also skilful in probing the thoughts of the team and has managed to engage everyone in the team and bring them together. He also assists in providing clarity and insight in what BCM is about. This has allowed us to improve our processes and obtain greater buy in from the business.

– Ann Wong, Prime Super

Saul has facilitated multiple exercises for the NTC over the years. Professional at all times, his extensive knowledge and experience is an asset for any organisation. Saul recently facilitated a combined Crisis Management Team (CMT) and Recovery Team exercise and debrief for the NTC, reviewing the NTC’s response to the COVID 19 lockdown restrictions. Saul lead the group through the process, our handling and response to the event and what role the business continuity plan played. Saul’s engagement/delivery style is suited to such exercises, focused on group discussion, learnings, with a primary focus on where the NTC can continuously improve.

– Robert Fois, National Transport Commission

Saul facilitated a Crisis Management Team (CMT) exercise for MLC Life in late 2019. Saul took the end to end lead on the exercise including the design, stakeholder discussions, exercise facilitation and the exercise summary report. As an exercise director, Saul’s engagement/delivery style is pragmatic to say the least – inclusive, yet focused on the benefits. He has a natural knack for time management where he’d know when to slow down or pick up the pace. With years of industry experience under his belt, Saul ensured that the objectives of the exercise were met within the limited time we had and the primary focus remained on areas of improvement.

BCMS Project: Terra Firma was commissioned to provide a comprehensive business continuity management system in collaboration with my organisation. This included the development of a BCMS Framework, BIA, BCPs, and crisis management plans. Along with presentations and workshops run with the executive and delegates throughout the organisation, there was continuing capability uplift of the organisation and mentoring of people to be able to continue the BCMS journey into the future.
Saul was a fantastic speaker, influencer and mentor during this project, and I valued his knowledge and the insights he shared greatly. I would happily recommend Terra Firma for future projects.

– Manager BC, Victorian Local Council

Juliet facilitated the Business Continuity exercises for MLC Life in 2020. This included scenario planning, design, facilitation and exercise reports. Her experience in the BC field meant we started each exercise with clear objectives, observation templates and a primary focus on education, awareness and improvement opportunities. Juliet proposed pre and post exercise discussions with the internal BCM team ensuring information was collected and summarised in accordance with the objectives.

Exercise: Terra Firma ran a crisis management exercise with the objectives of practicing implementation of crisis management processes and testing the effectiveness of the plan. Saul and Phil consulted with myself and undertook their own research to determine a scenario that would not only test against the objectives stated, but also challenge and educate participants. This resulted in very positive feedback when the exercise was run, surrounding the setup (not feeling threatened), and the questions that were raised both during and after the exercise.
Saul was able to set the scene, challenge the participants and respond to questions that were raised throughout the exercise, all without losing the momentum that was being created. Phil’s observations at the conclusion of the exercise also created a lot of thought and discussion, which in turn set the organisation to thinking more strategically and outside the square about their response to future disruptions. All participants valued the experience, to the point where Terra Firma shall be running another exercise for us in the very near future.
