“Leaving people with the all the right tools and skills to help them to continue to grow is the best feeling”
I started at Terra Firma in late October last year as a Senior Business Analyst. I joined Terra Firma because I got such good vibes from the organisation. People often refer to the business as having a real ‘family feel’ and it does.
I began my career as a primary school teacher. Over the years, I have worked in many different types of roles here in Australia, New Zealand, and Canada. I was at IBM for many years doing Global Lead work in outsourcing services working in some interesting change projects and some amazing continuous improvement activity. I led seven workstreams in a big project for New Zealand at the time of the Christchurch earthquake. They were scrambling to support clients and deliver on the project, and I was able to support the managers and assist them to overcome something they had never come across. That type of change management and collaboration is something I really enjoy.
At Terra Firma, I hope to achieve a stage where I can effectively support others, as I like coaching and mentoring. This is the first time I have worked as a consultant, and it is a mindset change. I have made some mistakes along the way, but it is a good learning experience. I found that even when you don’t get it right, people are very supportive and they help to guide you, which I appreciate.
When I’m not working, I like crafts such as making journals and cards. I like to read and get my head stuck in a book. I also love socialising and having a good mix of going out and staying in.
